Vehicle insurance

The insurance purchased for cars, trucks and all the other vehicles. This is also called as car insurance, motor insurance or auto insurance. Its prime importance is to provide protection against losses gained as a result of traffic accidents. It also provides protection against liability that could be acquired in an accident. Before using or keeping a motor vehicle on public roads you need to have vehicle insurance. The insurance is related to both the car and the driver. The insurance provided to both varies greatly.

The coverage levels covered by the vehicle insurance include the insured party, the insured vehicle and the third party i.e. the car and the people. Some States, under the No Fault Auto Insurance provide coverage for injuries to persons riding in the insured vehicle without regard to fault in the auto accident. The circumstances under which each item is covered are specified by different policies such as; a vehicle can be insured against theft, fire damage, or accident damage independently.

You must have auto insurance if you own a car. You may not have the best auto insurance but every state compels you to have it. In auto insurance there is an agreement between you and your insurance provider, where the provider pays the financial losses in case of an accident and you pay the premiums regularly. You are not financially prepared to pay the losses when you meet with an accident. This is the reason why you should have an automobile insurance. You should contact your insurance agent and inquire about the right policy that suits you. You should properly understand the automobile insurance policy to get a proper coverage for it. The auto insurance policy covers the Bodily Injury Liability, Personal Injury Protection (PIP), and Liability for Property Damage, Collision coverage, Comprehensive Coverage, and Uninsured Motorist Coverage.

Bodily Injury Liability protects and covers the policyholder against any bodily injury caused by them to someone else in an accident.
Personal Injury Protection (PIP) covers the cost of treatment, lost wages, cost of replacing services and funeral costs to the passengers and driver of the policy holder's car that are injured.

Liability for Property Damage provides coverage to the person whose property is damaged by you while you are driving your vehicle.
Collision coverage provides coverage for damage to the policy holder’s car as a result of collision with another vehicle or any other object. This policy will cover the repairing cost of your car even if you are at fault in an accident excluding the deductible.

Comprehensive Coverage provides coverage if you bear a loss due to theft or a damage caused by fire, explosion, earthquake, storm and any other natural calamity.

Uninsured Motorist Coverage will compensate the cost of damage if an uninsured or underinsured or a hit-and-run driver hits you or your family member. This policy also protects you if you are hit as a pedestrian.
